WHAT HAS POPULATION COUNCIL GUATEMALA GAINED?
Results turned into indicators:
“The results provide us with the main indicators of AO.”
Program Coordinator PCG
Data validated:
“The most interesting thing is that from two different communities, one exposed to the program 6 years and another one only this year, the results show similarities.”
M&E Coordinator PCG
Shifts in training methodologies:
“We actually learnt a lot from the style of the (InsightShare) workshops, that you can build respect though capacity building without coming from a superior position.”
M&E Coordinator PCG
Strategic investment:
“We have included PV M&E in a bid to the IADB. The bank was really positive about the use of this new tool in M&E. This is great as we are planning to incorporate the trainees with a strong role in M&E after the Initiative finishes. We can see this has been a strategic investment for the program.”
M&E Coordinator PCG
Real girl participation in M&E and appropriation:
“I’ve never thought this was possible. This is grounded theory in practice. We are decolonising research as girls are doing each step of the process including analysis…This is appropriation. The pathway to empowerment lays in understanding everything.”
M&E Coordinator PCG
New capacity built:
“The PV+M&E initiative made a concrete impact within the organisation. At the local level MSC and PV were fully integrated to the M&E strategy for 2013-2014 cycle. Plus, an MSC selection was planned to complement household surveys for the current cycle. At the global office level, the experience was documented in the new edition of the toolkit “Investing when it Counts”, a valuable contribution from the Council to girl programming worldwide.”

WHAT HAS BRAC UGANDA GAINED?
Girl leadership:
“How did the girls learn so quickly? I am so impressed with the change I see in them, is it possible for the girls to share this transformation with others across BRAC?”
ELA Program Manager BRAC
Girl researchers:
“I am really impressed with what this project is doing, BRAC now has developed a huge appetite to see how they can use this tool and these skills, we are now considering the option of supporting the girls to establish a social enterprise within BRAC… Munshi and his team asked the girls for a proposal to use MSC methods to find out the barriers young Ugandans face in accessing secondary education. They put in a fantastic
proposal, which we are hoping to support.”
BRAC Knowledge and Communication Manager
Data efficiency:
“These are the messages we Coordinators need to hear and never heard before.”
Regional Coordinator BRAC
Method effectiveness:
“This is very good M&E…there is high value to this qualitative process. It’s good if we collaborate with the girls.”
